On the Hidden Life. Lathe Biosas. Living hidden is an ancient philosophical choice that remains strikingly relevant today. The Greek philosopher Epicurus proposed cultivating one’s inner garden, far from the worries of the world. Lucretius escaped a Roman culture marked by the fear of the gods through an intimate science made of matter and poetry. Seneca and Marcus Aurelius sought the hidden life within themselves, building a citadel of inner peace while still remaining in the world. Through quotations, reflections, and resonances, On the Hidden Life is a meditation on the freedom of not being seen, in an age like ours that often abhors silence.
