Johann Sebastian Bach’s cycle of Three Sonatas and Partitas BWV 1001–1006 for solo violin is one of the most famous string compositions of the 18th century and of the violin repertoire as a whole. Park’s edition offers elegant and idiomatic solutions to the technical challenges that arise when playing these violin works on the viola. The arranger: Chung Park is a conductor, violist, and educator who received his professional training at the Peabody Conservatory as well as the University of Miami. He studied viola in Hannover, Germany, with Hatto Beyerle of the Alban Berg Quartet. An
