The Omote Haru Runner, designed by Mae Engelgeer for cc-tapis, explores the minimalistic structure and tactile qualities of the traditional Japanese tatami mat through a contemporary textile interpretation. Developed in close collaboration with cc-tapis artisans, the design reimagines the harmony and balance of tatami surfaces using modern weaving techniques. Crafted through an intricate handloom process, the runner features natural yarns woven around a soft and insulating felt core. This construction recreates the distinctive suppleness, warmth, and comfort traditionally associated with tatami flooring while introducing a refined, modern aesthetic.
