Yixing Hongcha - Red tea from Yixing
Yixing red tea comes from the homonymous city in Jiangsu province, which is famous for the production of the best-quality clay teapots in the world. The peculiar tea leaves are characterized by a tightly twisted shape, and a dark black hue. Lu Yu, the greatest tea master from Tang dynasty (618-907), praised Yixing as one of the best locations for tea production in his masterpiece, the Classic of Tea. During Ming and Qing dynasties, this tea became one of the main necessities of Chinese life and today it is a rare gem. Its flavor is full-bodied and complex: at each sip, mellow and sweet hues fill the palate, leaving a warm aftertaste of ripe fruits and brown sugar.
