Tea Club - Season 2, Chapter 1: Shupu 熟普洱

We opened the second season of our tea club with a chapter dedicated to the world of Shu Pu'er tea. Famous for its unmistakable aroma, this fermented tea guides us on a journey to explore the singular terroirs of Yunnan and discover the taste variations of modern Shupu, which differs deeply from older versions and is becoming a distinct category of tea. This chapter helps us understand the cultural value of four iconic areas: Jingmai mountain with its World Heritage ancient trees tea forest, Menghai with its unparalleled expertise in crafting fermented Pu'er tea, Xigui where local minorities live and create tea as if time never passed, and Bulang mountain, the inestimable land of strong tea. In this chapter we expand our senses to a wider experience of taste and fragrances, discovering how tea interacts with different elements like herbs and incense that are part of Chinese tea culture.
