2022 Myanmar shan Sheng pu'er, Ancient Trees Stone-pressed cake
Travelling 20 kilometres south from Bulang mountain, you reach the border with Myanmar in one hour. The landscape is an endless network of mountains covered in forest green shades that continue in every direction. Trees know no border: they put down their roots with the only knowledge of nature and survival. Tea trees have been growing in these borderlands for centuries, as the tea seeds were freely spreading following Mekong river waters, long before modern names were given to these lands. Here, in the area of Wannanma, we selected the tea leaves from ancient trees that we processed in this Shengpu special cake, and that we named to honour the mountains of Myanmar, our neighbour and sister land with whom we share millennia of geological history. The fragrance of this Shengpu speaks about the common ground that makes us innately related, showing the similarities that live in the DNA of our dayezhong tea trees, but also the deep-wild fragrance character of this unknown terroir.
