Hong Fo Shou 红佛手 - Buddha's Hand Red Tea
Hongfoshou is one of the rarest and most precious red teas in Fujian, historically produced in Quanzhou prefecture. The famous Fo Shou cultivar is often used to produce wulong tea, like the homonymous Fo Shou rock tea, or Tieguanyin. This red tea maintains the delicate roasted and fruity note of the cultivar, but it is here more mellow and enriched by sweet notes of honey, litchi, and autumn fruits. The iconic taste of buddha's hand fruit can also be perceived in the aftertaste, and it lingers in the palate for a long time after drinking the golden infusion. Fo Shou literally means Buddha's Hand: the cultivar gets this name from the appearance of its leaves and branches, which resemble the peculiar shape of the ripe citrus fruit. However, according to the legend it was buddhist monks who first planted this cultivar in Fujian province, giving this tea its name. Fresh, fragrant, and sweet: the amazing quality of these leaves awarded them the gold medal in 2018 in the Yudou Tea Competit
