Liubaocha 2006 - Guangxi Fermented Tea
Liù bǎo 六堡, the Sixth Fortress, was the most famous and ancient center of trade for dark tea, warm and fermented, particularly appreciated by the nomad populations of Tibet. Only the sixth fortress had the technical know-how and the ability required to create the highest quality tea, with a precious ruby liquor. This peculiar tea is traditionally aged in big bamboo baskets, which give the dark brown leaves a pleasant bamboo hue, enriched by a slight mellowness reminiscent of licorice and pinewood. But the main note of flavor in this high-quality manufacturing is the typical taste of betel nut - Bīnláng 槟榔 in Chinese - that immediately takes us to a fragrant under forest, refreshed by the first spring rains. 50 gr.
